Overview

The Fire Watch plays a critical safety role during construction, installation, and commissioning activities for a synchronous condenser facility. This includes monitoring hot works, safeguarding personnel, identifying fire hazards, and ensuring immediate response capabilities in accordance with site safety procedures, project permits, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Hot Work Monitoring

  • Maintain constant vigilance during all hot work activities (welding, grinding, cutting, brazing, etc.).
  • Ensure all hot work permits are valid and conditions are strictly followed.
  • Inspect work areas for combustible materials, ignition risks, or unauthorised activity.
  • Confirm fire extinguishers and emergency response equipment are present and functional.
  • Monitor the work area for a minimum of 60 minutes post-completion, or as specified by permit.

Fire Prevention

  • Identify and immediately report unsafe conditions, potential ignition sources, and non-compliance.
  • Verify the implementation of isolations, screens, barriers, or fire blankets as required.
  • Ensure correct storage and handling of flammable materials on site.
  • Maintain clear access routes for emergency personnel and fire appliances.

Emergency Response

  • Act promptly to extinguish small fires using onsite fire-fighting equipment if safe to do so.
  • Raise the alarm and initiate emergency procedures for larger incidents.
  • Support evacuation of personnel in accordance with site emergency plans.
  • Ensure full understanding of muster points, alarms, and emergency communication protocols.

Site Safety & Compliance

  • Participate in toolbox talks, HSE briefings, and daily coordination meetings.
  • Report incidents, near-misses, and unsafe behaviours to the HSE team.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and assist with hot work permit close-out.
  • Comply with all site rules, RAMS, and client-specific safety standards.

 

Requirements

Essential

  • Previous experience as Fire Watch, Hot Work Sentry, or similar site safety role.
  • Understanding of hot work hazards and fire prevention controls.
  • Ability to stay alert and focused for extended periods.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to intervene confidently when required.
  • Physically fit and able to work in industrial environments.

Certifications (Required or Preferred)

  • Fire Watch / Fire Marshal / Fire Safety training.
  • Valid CSCS/Safepass equivalent.
  • Hot Work Permit training (preferred).
  • Confined Space awareness (if applicable to project).
  • First Aid (desirable)

HSE Supervisor

HSE Supervisor

Your role will encompass

  • Ensure the health and safety of all employees working on company projects, as well as the safety of third parties
  • Oversee the work of company staff and contractors, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and best practices
  • Develop, implement, and enforce Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures. Take proactive measures to ensure the highest standards of safety are maintained
  • Coordinate and supervise personnel involved in the operation and maintenance of projects, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and smooth operation of machinery and equipment
  • Conduct regular HSE inspections, produce detailed reports, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards
  • Lead investigations, analyze incidents, and produce comprehensive reports to prevent future occurrences
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of all HSE documentation as required by legislation and company policies
  • Implement safety procedures for the operation, maintenance, and insurance of facilities, ensuring maintenance interventions are conducted safely
  • Ensure compliance with all legal provisions related to operations, maintenance, operating permits, environmental approvals, and safety regulations
  • Provide timely and effective reports on all HSE activities and incidents
  • Effectively communicate, implement, and monitor all company HSE rules and procedures

 

What you bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience as a Safety Engineer in construction or industry, with a focus on HSE
  • Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, codes, and standards
  • Experience with international clients and solar projects is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Fluent in English; ability to prepare HSE documentation in English and/or Greek
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong planning, organizational, and analytical abilities
  • Electrical Work Certification and HSE Certification required
  • Familiarity with QHSE Management Systems (180001/ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001)
  • Ability to meet deadlines and perform well under pressure
