Mechanical Site Engineer
Position Overview
The Mechanical Site Engineer will support the execution of mechanical works on-site, ensuring compliance with design, safety requirements, technical specifications, and construction schedules. The role combines technical oversight, contractor supervision, quality assurance, and coordination with engineering, planning, and HSE teams.

Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Construction & Installation
- Oversee and supervise installation of mechanical systems including piping, rotating equipment, static equipment, HRSG components, cooling systems, fuel gas systems, and auxiliary plant equipment.
- Verify that all works follow approved drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, method statements, and technical specifications.
- Monitor alignment, tolerances, welding, supports, and mechanical fit-up of equipment.
Contractor & Site Coordination
- Coordinate daily activities with subcontractors and ensure smooth workflow and resource availability.
- Participate in daily/weekly coordination meetings with civil, electrical, commissioning, and engineering teams.
- Identify site issues and propose practical engineering solutions.
Quality Assurance & Documentation
- Conduct inspections, punch lists, and mechanical walk-downs for system handover.
- Ensure all mechanical works follow QA/QC standards, welding procedures (WPS/PQR), and material specifications.
- Review and approve ITPs, inspection reports, as-built drawings, and mechanical documentation.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Enforce project-specific HSE standards.
- Support risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and toolbox talks.
- Ensure safe execution of lifting, rigging, pressure testing, and commissioning-related mechanical activities.
Testing & Commissioning Support
- Participate in testing: hydrostatic tests, pneumatic tests, flushing, cleaning, leak tests, rotation tests, etc.
- Support commissioning team during pre-commissioning and start-up of mechanical equipment.
- Assist in the preparation of system turnover packages (TOPs).
Reporting & Project Control
- Track mechanical progress against schedule and report deviations.
- Maintain logs for installation progress, inspections, materials, and equipment status.
- Support change requests, site queries (RFIs), and technical clarifications.
Skills & Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 3–10+ years of experience in mechanical construction for power plants, oil & gas, industrial plants, or energy projects.
- Strong knowledge of piping systems, rotating machinery, pressure equipment, and mechanical installation standards.
- Experience working within EPC project environments and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with QA/QC processes, welding, NDT, and mechanical testing.
- Good command of English (project language).
Preferred
- Experience with CCGT projects or HRSG systems.
- Understanding of EU/Polish mechanical standards and site safety regulations.
- Knowledge of software such as MS Project, Navisworks, AutoCAD, or similar.
